keladryoftortall asked: post/74662543892 When would it be acceptable, if ever, for a white person to wear garments of other cultures? I've always thought that saris were beautiful -- fascinating and lovely. I've always wanted to wear them, but I don't want to offend anyone. When would it be acceptable to wear a sari, as a white Southern teenage female?
I think asking permission is the best possible starting point, but I’m not the one to ask - I’d try and speak to people from sari-wearing cultures and see what they say. But if you do decide to wear one, I think the most important thing to remember is to treat it as piece of clothing, and not as a costume.
