the writing life
- Husband: You should do something with that short story you wrote when we were in Melbourne. The one with the invisible sister.
- Me: What?
- Husband: You know, the invisible sister.
- Me: Invisible sister. No?
- Husband: Or something. I think there was a bird in it?
- Me: A bird? That really narrows it down.
- Husband: Or maybe the sister was the bird. And there was a fence. Something about a fence.
- Me: ....
- Husband: It was sort of yellowish brown.
- Me: The bird, the fence or the sister?
- Husband: No, the story. It felt sort of yellowish brown. It was nice.
- Me: It's so nice to know you're so attentive to my work.
- Husband: ...
- Husband: You're tumbling this, aren't you.
