What Happens Next: A Gallimaufry

melancholic romantic comic cynic. bi & genderqueer. fantasy writer. sysrae on ao3.

if i had lived my whole life and no one had put woman farms in a television show I WOULD HAVE DIED NONE THE WORSE FOR IT.

fuck

True story: after watching S1 of BSG with my now-ex boyfriend, I stopped because, as much as I liked the other elements, the ubiquitous religiosity was bugging me. My boyfriend, though, kept watching, and would periodically try to entice me back by telling me about what were, to him, the absolute highlights of S2.

These “highlights” included the woman farms and the attempted rape of Boomer.

Funnily enough, he failed to understand why these might not be positives from my perspective - but then, this is the asshat who also repeatedly mocked me for watching Star Trek: Voyager because it was “girl Trek”, and therefore the least serious, least valid series in the franchise.

And dudes like this wonder why some girls struggle to connect with geekdom.
