Anonymous asked: I'd like to thank you for pointing out something in *headdesk* which has been my experience for years: that the WAY a man fights with a feminist woman is often far and away more infuriating than the TOPIC of the argument. This is particularly true when the woman attempts to point out that the man's opinion is wrong: for some reason, instead of understanding that she disagrees with the point he's trying to make, he takes it as a personal insult and tries to shut her up. *sighs*
Agreed. I never thought my friend was being deliberately offensive or that he actively believed women’s writing was inferior; I was just trying to point out that his comments, however casually meant, were ultimately founded on the idea - no matter he’d never thought of this - that it was. The result was me saying, “Here is what you’ve said and why it’s offensive,” and him arguing back, “But that’s not what I MEANT,” as though this made my feeling offended irrational.
