A conversation which I, an Australian living in the US, have had twice in the past fortnight with two (2) completely different American strangers:

Americans: Holiday season coming up! Are you making plans?
Me: Yeah, though I’m not really sure if we’ll do anything for Thanksgiving, you know, because we don’t have it in Australia.
Americans: Oh! Do Australians celebrate Christmas, though?

And like. I’m just.

Thanksgiving is an expressly American holiday. It is literally about America. How the fuck are Americans so startled to learn that Thanksgiving isn’t a global phenomenon that their next, immediate question is whether other countries celebrate Christmas?

American ignorance is fucking wild, you guys.
