Refusing a health accommodation almost certainly is. The ADA is a thing.
The death thing is deplorable. But probably not illegal.
So in other words, this professor only wants to teach neurotypical, able-bodied, childless students with enough money that work never puts them at risk of non-attendance and whose cultural background aligns so perfectly with white Western defaults that any celebrations they might want to attend on those grounds are already accommodated by the academic calendar.
Riiiiiiiight.
