guys please think about how fucking hot it must have been during rose quartz’s rebellion when pearl was basically surrounded by big hunks 24/7 and, while i’m sure she was ferocious about establishing her independence with every new recruit, she also totally has a thing for being aggressively picked up, thrown around, carried, and maybe roughed up a little

meanwhile just about every gem seems to agree that pearls are deluxe hotties

shit was going down back then and you can’t tell me it wasn’t

shinobicyrus

Now I’m thinking about Bismuth giving the talk to new recruits. “Yeah the rumors are true we got us a Pearl that can fight better than five Nephrites and before you start gettin’ any funny ideas she don’t belong *Nobody.* That being said she likes to cuddle, so here’s the match roster she made if you think you’re tough enough to make it on her list. Good luck against Garnet.”

you’re hired

Addendum: gems fusing to try and get past garnet, and then summarily falling in love with each other instead

you’re hired

gems fusing to try and get past Garnet, and being hilariously unsuited for it, and Garnet giving them advice or recommending alternate partners or saying ‘you’d really be better handling this specific challenge unfused, you’re stronger than you know’

everyone here gets a raise

okay but you also know that at some point the cultural dam kind of burst re: fusion and suddenly everyone was fusing with literally everyone else just to try it out in this sort of thrilling, semi-illicit gem orgy, like how teenagers who’ve never had the freedom to drink or party without supervision suddenly get to university and realise oh shit NO ONE’S STOPPING ME I CAN DO THE THING

and of course it all eventually settles down, long-term fusion isn’t really for everyone (though they get some super cool battlefield combinations and a number of deep relationships out of it) and the initial novelty of doing the forbidden wears off

but pearl and bismuth fusing is still everyone’s favourite party trick, because DAMN
