inkbotkowalski asked: I moved to London in September last year, and come November I was surprised by how I'd suddenly become extremely irritable, annoyed by people, and perpetually hungry. Then I did some research into SAD and bought a daylight lamp. It helped a lot. Bottom line: in the UK for a few months, already having to tweak to avoid it destroying me ;))
Something that makes SAD so hard to diagnose when you’re used to living in a bright, warm country is that sunlight is a really ephemeral, unobvious thing to miss, and given the dislocation of moving such a distance, it’s easy to misattribute the resultant depression to other things. And even when the possibility does occur, the idea that a magic science light is going to improve your mood feels faintly ridiculous - right up until you turn it on, of course.
