It’s such a problem in so many ways! Little cis girls are taught about makeup at such young ages that, once they’re adults, I honestly don’t think it occurs to most of them that recognising/understanding the tricks and subtleties of its application is a learned ability, not something that everyone can just natively do; that natural makeup especially is not, in fact, as obvious as they often think it is. Learning about makeup never clicked with me, because I had zero interest in it (though I did sometimes feel pressured to have an interest) and - crucially - because my own mother almost never wore any, and so there was nothing routine about seeing it applied.
