Like, if Jupiter Ascending came out in 1999 and The Matrix came out in 2015 I think the critical/public reception would probably be reversed too
There was definitely a zeitgeist element to how The Matrix was received, and it was also revolutionary in terms of pioneering a lot of special effects we now take for granted. But I do think that sexism is definitely still a factor.
