some days I think that one of the main reasons why straight/bi/pan women invest so much in gay male slashfic is because it gives us a way to negotiate our feelings around sexual fantasies of dominance, submission and kink in a context where the object of the fantasy is still male, but where our identification character doesn’t have to deal with the same cultural baggage we do about “all girls are” or “women are biologically X” or “does being submissive make me a bad feminist” or “does being dominant make me unfeminine”, thereby freeing us up to just figure out what the hell it is we actually like
